Autumn and Harvest

Our theme this week has been the Autumn and Harvest. We celebrated Harvest by bringing in tins and packets which we donated to St Mary's Church in Apsley. The items were sold to raise money for Water Aid and some items were donated to DENS, a local homeless charity.

We talked about the changes to the trees and the Autumn colours. We went on lots of Autumn walks and collected conkers, acorns and different colour leaves to use for our activities back at pre-school. We made conker ramps, hedgehog leaf pictures and painted conker pictures. In our tray we have had lots of Autumn sensory objects to play with. We even made our own Autumn playdough using pumpkin! It smelt delicious!

We have also been reading the story of The Little Red Hen.  We made bread and talked about what Harvest means.

In Big Fun Time we have been learning lots of Autumn songs such as ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’ and ‘Autumn Leaves.’
